Tailoring students and apprentices throughout the United Kingdom are invited to compete for the awards. The submitted work is first judged by a panel of expert Savile Row insiders, who award marks for technical skill, design cutting tailoring. The work then features in a catwalk show and is awarded further marks for aesthetic value by a VIP panel industry aficionados. Previous VIP judges have included Joanna Lumley, Nick Hewer, David Furnish and Betty Jackson.
The awards will be chaired by Simon Cundey, of Henry Poole & Co, member of the Savile Row Bespoke Association and will represent the perfect opportunity to witness the future of bespoke tailoring. The winner of the Golden Shears Competition 2015 was Joe Holsgrove.
The biennial awards will take place on Monday 20th March 2017 at the spiritual home of tailoring, the merchant Taylor’s Hall and the garments have to be handed in by 9th December 2016. For more information click here.
