Bespoke Master Class at South Cheshire College

Master Tailor, Gordon Alsleben has had a wide and varied career on Savile Row and beyond. Starting in 1979 as a coat apprentice with Kilgour French and Stanbury, now known as Kilgour. Gordon moved to H Huntsman as an under cutter, under Head Cutter Mr Colin Hammick, a legend and icon of Savile Row.

During Gordons  thirty seven years on London’s iconic Street he has acquired extensive knowledge as a coat maker covering any garments any gentleman should own and rising through the ranks to become Head Cutter of Huntsman one of the Row’s leading companies.

In 2008 Gordon spent some time in India calling on not only his artisan skills but management and workshop organisation skills to produce bespoke production lines. This project also saw Gordons teaching skills come through.

Gordon’s two day Master Class held at the South Cheshire College in Crewe was deemed a great success, the students were coached by Gordon in the arts of bespoke pattern cutting and tailoring to produce a first fitting called a Baste.

The students were inspired by the first hand practical skills they acquired from Gordon and he certainly enjoyed the experience too.
